Moto42, also known as S.S. Walrus, is the author of the first SCP, SCP-173 and the creator of the format and backronym that would later define the SCP Foundation. He posted SCP-173 to the /x/ board of 4chan in June of 2007, but had no further direct involvement with the SCP Foundation beyond sporadic contact with the writing community on WikiDot.

4chan’s /x/
On June 22, 2007 at 1:40 AM, Moto42 (then going by the name S.S. Walrus) posted the original text of SCP-173 on the /x/ board of 4chan. This original text lacked an object class and contained many spelling and grammatical errors, most of which were corrected in a reposting to the original thread.[1]https://archive.md/QD9UF
SCP-173 and his subsequent comments on the thread would be the last contribution Moto42 would make to the SCP series on 4chan.
Wikidot
Moto42 would write again on July 30, 2008, two days after the SCP Wiki (Wikidot) was first mentioned on /x/, introducing himself.[2]http://scparchives.bluesoul.net/history.html He would again comment on October 27, 2013 to release SCP-173 under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License.[3]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-76692/scp-173#post-1879587, archive
Observer Status
In general, Moto42 has been content to observe the SCP Foundation from a distance. He has repeatedly expressed his approval of the series and has compared SCP-173 and the SCP series to a seed and a magnificent garden, respectively.[4]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-76692/scp-173#post-1879587, archive)[5]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-76692/scp-173#post-1879587, archive[6]https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3150591&userid=0&pagenumber=9#post362096251, archive He is in personal contact with members of the SCP Wiki and helped counsel in the legal case with Andrei Duksin.[7]http://05command.wikidot.com/russia-licensing-statement[8]https://archive.md/KOpbK
Trivia
- After SCP-173 was originally posted, a commenter claimed that it was not “very well written” and that it sounded like an “official report.” In response, Moto42 stated: “Sleep deprived first drafts tend to suck a bit. It’s meant to sound like an official report, and I’ll admit that english grammar isn’t my strongest subject. Thanks for all the positive responses.”[9]https://archive.md/QD9UF
- He had originally planned to make weekly SCP posts, but lost access to the Internet and interest in this idea.[10]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-77831/wow-i-never-expected-this#post-230929
- Moto42’s last SCP-related activity occurred on May 23, 2015, when he made an upvote to SCP-850. This is Moto42’s only known vote on Wikidot.[11]http://web.archive.org/web/20211202043530/http://scpper.com/user/175861
