okay, history time
I joined the backrooms wikidot a month before things went down and became friends with rutherford in the time I was there and together we formed the industrial canon
while I was working on that with ruther warpez, the owner, stepped down from his position and more or less out of the community, appointing his longtime partner in making the site evfist to the position and generally taking a break
I thought nothing of this, until right before the canon was about to go up on the site my friend ruther was banned, along with warpez and several others with no explanation given, although rumor in the chat was warpez had been found out to be some kind of nazi
curious as I was, and wanting to get back in contact with rutherford, I DM’d edgar, one of the banned members to ask what had happened
what he told me was that they had been in a server together where they had spoken ill of 1kD, one of the mods, and been banned for “plotting to undermine the staff team”
where things went wrong for me was that edgar turned around and posted a screenshot of my DM with him in the server he was in, whereupon one of the members suggested “he could be our spy” and TS’ spy swept it up in a screenshot
I was banned moments after
I then made an alternate account called doeymous out of john doe + anonymous to join their server with as I wanted to see what was going on and was already banned from TS
I spoke with the others in the server learned what had happened: Vincent, a member of the group, had sold them out to TS staff with screenshots of them saying edgy stuff
after a while I poked around on the old site and found what had happened to our canon – a user by the name of aether48 had taken it over and was writing low quality articles against the original spirit of the canon ruther and I had envisioned
I tried talking it over with aether48 to get the canon back on track but his response was that “if I didn’t want to lose the canon, I shouldn’t have been banned”
so I went to yellowislol who was sympathetic to my case as I was a new user who hadn’t been in the other server and hadn’t really said much so they didn’t have anything on me
I appealed my ban so I could get back onto the backrooms wiki and take back control of my canon
unfortunately my appeal was turned down – “Your appeal has been denied as you’ve been found to at the very least be associated with these users. Which puts you at suspicion for working with them, which is then backed up by our screenshots.”
it was basically the red scare at that time
the transphobia narrative had been crafted by that point but the “plotting to undermine staff” thing was still going on
so I receded back into the hole 3 server
mfras had come forward with a plan of motion
we would keep doing what we had been doing in TS, not for their wiki, or for any wiki, but just for ourselves in our little group
mfras and I carried on a writing campaign where we would write levels entities and tales together and upload them to a google drive folder
mr ferrante, a backrooms youtuber who covered TS’ stuff was sympathetic to us, and decided to cover our private stash of articles
the first one he did was my Eye of God, followed by mfras’ Domed Desert
after this avert started up the liminal archives wiki (then called neo backrooms) to upload stuff to and I was the first to join and wrote levels 1-8 with him
it was soon after this that banach joined and spammed the link to neo backrooms in TS to get himself banned, and then invited LPP and almar
mfras had distrusted banach at first and I had to talk him out of just trolling and banning himthe new members actually wrote, with almar submitting the ashen tomb
since ferrante was going over our stuff, us hole 3 folks entered the ferrante server and began posting in there
I, being myself, said some things on the off side of political correctness, as did many other members of ferrante’s server (but I compromised over half of the screenshots TS had) and TS well, I’ve given it away, grabbed screenshots of us saying stuff in ferrante’s server and decided to punish him for what we said, banning him from TS
well, not TS exactly – the junior staff from SCP on TS without the approval of the senior staff
this prompted two events
first, ferrante went all-in for the neo-backrooms, posting the invite to our little server in the announcements channel of his with an @ everyone ping
this caused a massive explosion of members that we were not in any way fit to handle
we ended up separating the server into two halves, the writing group that only the writer role could see, and the public half for the wiki
I was rapidly trusted with mod as mfras could no longer handle the server by himself
in this overflow of members ruther got bot role from me as he asked for it to be able to see all the channels and I didn’t realize it gave him mod perms
ruther then used bot role to play admin and “fix” the server by deleting the channel he felt we didn’t need anymore – namely the original hole 3 server with all the evidence of our innocence in it
this caused mfras to give up and withdraw from the community
the second effect of the ferrante ban was that knaff, one of the TS mods, was put off by the decision and then, on top of the SCP users going behind the senior staff’s backs, they then forbid anyone on the staff team from even DMing members of our group, which caused knaff to finally draw the line and post about how the server was being taken over in admin channels – and get banned
