“Continuity is just what I’m trying to fix here.” — Lofwyr[1]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-3523.0-3553.160
Lofwyr was an early containment fiction participant and organizer, active on 4chan’s /x/ and EditThis. They are known for transferring early SCP entries from /x/ to the EditThis Wiki,[2]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-4642.1-4823.7[3]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-6949.0-6979.330[4]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-7478.1-7775.43 and for writing initial guidelines in order to establish standardization and continuity for the SCP format and its pseudo-canonical lore. These instances of continuity include initial object class conceptions, security clearance & Overseer Command levels.
Lofwyr created the lore of an O5 council, including 12 initial members, the nomenclature of “O5-#” (e.g. “O5-7”), and that they are too important to come into direct contact with SCPs, barring “Safe” anomalies.[5]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-2709.0-2763.7[6]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-2813.0-2975.7 O5 personnel would be incorporated into more /x/ SCPs,[7]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-19913.385-19913.418[8]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-21405.741-21405.878 — even over-incorporated, according to some later WikiDot critics[9]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-76858/scp-682#post-891386 — as well as in other containment fiction communities.[10]e.g. http://backrooms-wiki.wikidot.com/entity-100, http://rpcauthority.wikidot.com/directorate
They were the first known user to generate tips for writing SCPs, including the suggestion to not overdo containment procedures with excessive detail.[11]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-16652.1-16765.7[12]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-16741.503-16741.763 These tips were ported to the EditThis,[13]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-17680.1-17733.232[14]http://web.archive.org/web/20080409210737/http://editthis.info/scp_wiki/SCP_Series#Information_for_Authors[15]http://web.archive.org/web/20080411124643/http://editthis.info/scp_wiki/Guidelines_and_Caveats as were their Security Clearance Levels posts, and object class concepts.[16]http://web.archive.org/web/20080410223404/http://www.editthis.info/scp_wiki/Security_Clearance_Levels[17]http://web.archive.org/web/20080410073035/http://www.editthis.info/scp_wiki/SCP_Object_Classes[18]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-2709.0-2739.254
Lofwyr’s Security Levels established levels 0-4, with each level based on the personnel’s allowed proximity/involvement with SCP objects.[19]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-2861.0-2861.44 It is from this conceptualization that the Overseers are ultimately associated with Level 5 credentials, as “the O5”.[20]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-3419.0-3449.448 A “Non-Standard” section details Class E and Class K personnel.[21]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-2965.9-2965.37 Class E personnel were responsible for initial containment of an SCP object, and Class K personnel were those assigned to a Keter class SCP. K Class personnel were not allowed to interact with non-K Class personnel, or K-Class personnel from another Keter SCP object.[22]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-2965.619-2965.852
In a historical essay written on the 4chan and EditThis iterations of the SCP community, an author writes:
“Lofwyr was not active on the EditThis wiki for long and appears to have stopped contributing by the end of January. However, they near single-handedly laid the groundwork for the rules and guidelines governing the writing of SCPs during their brief time in the community.” — Cooldude971[23]https://archive.ph/xQdvZ#selection-1201.0-1201.271
Trivia
Lofwyr is recorded as having stated they never wrote an SCP article.[24]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-11043.0-11043.294 Lofwyr might be attributed with one SCP on EditThis, SCP-565, although this comment by Lofwyr was made one day after SCP-565 was written, and on the same day it was ported to EditThis.[25]https://web.archive.org/web/20080423030224/http://editthis.info/scp_wiki/?title=SCP-565&action=history
A Lofwyr WikiDot account exists, but predates the creation of the SCP Wiki on Wikidot, and never interacted with the SCP Wiki on WikiDot, or became a member.[26]http://www.wikidot.com/user:info/Lofwyr
Lofwyr attempted to introduce “E Class”, which were tasked with capturing and containing SCPs, and “K Class”, which were specifically assigned to Keter anomalies.[27]http://web.archive.org/web/20080410223404/http://www.editthis.info/scp_wiki/Security_Clearance_Levels[28]https://archive.ph/QNbYp#selection-2965.0-2965.856
Lofwyr’s initial object class conceptions based the classes on value and difficulty of containment. A notable exception is Euclid, which in its initial form, designated an extra-dimensional object that could not be recreated by current technology.[29]http://web.archive.org/web/20080410073035/http://www.editthis.info/scp_wiki/SCP_Object_Classes
The writing tips that Lofwyr started would go on to attract additions by Kain Pathos Crow, Eberstrom, and Fritz Willie.[30]http://web.archive.org/web/20080803022143/http://editthis.info/scp_wiki/Guidelines_and_Caveats
Lofwyr created a thread on /x/ on January 24, 2008 sharing his favorite SCPs: SCP-463 (non-viable), SCP-147, and SCP-091 (non-viable).[31]http://scparchives.bluesoul.net/x/scp/455858.html SCP-147 was written by Eberstrom and exists on the SCP Wiki on WikiDot today.[32]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-147
