Let us preface this message by asking you to forward this to any applicable staff members. We are the Backrooms Wiki, a wiki about a meme that I know a lot of your staff have heard of, sometimes in the critique forums. Our wiki can be found here: https://thebackrooms.com + History We started our wiki about 2-3 months ago, after it became clear that the old wiki was unsustainable. I think I can tell you enough about the situation there from the fact it was a Fandom wiki, but to be clear, it had zero moderation, constant spam and vandalism[[footnote]]in the form of mass deletion, pornographic content, and general garbage[[/footnote]], and no quality control. Link to the old wiki [http://backrooms.fandom.com here]. As the old wiki was approaching total destruction, we set up our wiki as an alternative that was several orders of magnitude better than the old one. In the beginnings of our wiki, it was very much based off of the SCP wiki, with more liberal moderation, and with a lot of [http://backrooms-wiki.wikidot.com/the-backrooms-tone Backrooms-flavoured] tone[[footnote]]most notably nostalgia[[/footnote]] to create a desirable wiki. At first we contacted the Backrooms subreddit in advance in order to make a post informing users of the new wiki. After some more setting up of the wiki, we got the post up and put some disclaimers up on the old wiki. All seemed to be running smoothly. Seemed. We continued to work on the wiki with the support of the subreddit until one of the moderators made a post on the r/backrooms Discord server stating that he'd be making a 'wiki' where there were only 3 Level, no groups, minimal entities; essentially something that'd constrict any sort of creativeness or effort from writers. Now this may seem like a stupid thing for us to get worked up about on its own, it's just a wiki with different -- maybe in //our// opinion bad -- lore, but as this announcement was being made, our information post on the subreddit was replaced with a megathread squeezing our wiki into the middle. //Sure, whatever; it's their subreddit, they don't have to have our ad there//, we thought at a glance, but it's what exactly they wrote about us which was the problem. It mentioned three systems -- the one Level system, the three Levels option, and then ours: > 3. The Extended Lore - The Extended Lore takes the 3 Level System and says “fuck it, here’s 40 more”. It has a lot of levels, and it implies that there are millions that we haven’t gotten to yet. The Extended Lore can be good if you want to write about something simple and easy, but you have to deal with using number levels above 3 in your post, which a good chunk of the community on this subreddit aren’t a fan of. Link for the Extended Lore here > > I personally recommend either the No Levels or the 3 Level system, as I think that the Wiki itself is flawed in many regards, such as the idea of communities and groups inside of the Backrooms, which pretty much says “fuck you” to the idea of them being x3 the surface area of Earth. Essentially taking a giant shit on our wiki, what we were doing, and the countless hours sunk into the project. I think it goes without saying that this completely defaced our image, throwing away the limited praise and likability we had garnered from the subreddit's members by inviting them to shit on our project even more and conveniently failing to mention that the old wiki -- the source of the negative opinions on an 'Extended Lore' system. This came out of thin air from this moderator and we were all surprised as to //what// exactly the point of this project was. Our best theory was that, as the moderator in question was working on a Backrooms game with these constrictions, he wanted the definite Backrooms wiki to be in compliance with his own personal project. I think our original response summed this situation up alright. > With the main points here, it makes sense -- the community should decide what they want best -- but the point still stands that this other 'wiki', or 'archive' as you even called it is more of just that -- a museum or archive. It only has three Levels and is locked from editing, providing no room for development or writing. I am fine with that, as long as it does not overshadow ours as **The Backrooms Wiki**. //We// are the definitive Backrooms wiki, //we// will build on the lore, and //we// allow people to share their view of the Backrooms. We are The Backrooms Wiki, not this 'Extended Lore' tag that we were assigned. > > In addition to this, I agree that a website for those preferring 0-2 is acceptable, however, just Level 0 is -- no matter how many people see The Backrooms as such -- plain and boring with such a minimal chance of development that it is not worth working on, in fact, it isn't even reasonably possible to work on. ^^Excuse the poor writing and framing of the argument as a whole, we don't really have any staff specialising in that sort of thing^^ After more disagreement, we decided to formally pull out of any partnership given that our abominable 'partners' had started punching down and ripping off our concept of a more stable Backrooms wiki. A few more things to note. * This wasn't their moderation team calling the shots, it was the ego and opinions of //one// moderator * This concept of a restricted lore wiki was never finished or likely even started, given that no link, no concept pages, no information aside from the general idea was provided. It is possible that this was done on purpose in order to have some sort of excuse to shit on our wiki + Requests and Motivations With this development out of the way, our wiki have been looking for a suitable partner for some kind of support so we can rest easy and not have to worry about traffic going to the other wiki, limited staff, etc. About 2-4 weeks ago, we set our sights toward 'Plan B', referring to trying to become a sister site of SCP's, in a similar fashion to the Wanderers' Library, perhaps even having some in-universe tie-in to the Foundation like the Library does. Unlike the Library, however, we do not have any staff members shared between sites. I'd like to recommend for your wiki to have someone with ours -- 'on the inside' -- if you want more specific info on our systems and such before making any kind of commitment. Our wiki request a sort of partnership with -- to become a sister site of -- the SCP wiki. This would greatly support us
